A personal note

Before we get back into it for Two Thousand and Twenty Two

I’m happy to be here with you.

I took a short break from producing content in this medium to clear my thoughts and schedule some live speaking content (schedule towards the bottom.)

Some of what I put out will be more structured, some less, but it’s incredible to be able to pick up the ‘pen’ and to know that you are there, on the other side.

I have written privately for many years for those who do not know, and I have a limited amount of recorded audio available on the internet. I was turned on to substack because someone mentioned a near-daily newsletter on American Politics, Letters from an American, by Heather Cox Richardson.

We don’t share the same political preference, but I considered her work intelligent, opinionated, and well-informed.

Now, it’s no secret that I have strong opinions.

But I do want to write to you occasionally with less structure. I spent most of my younger years rejecting structure, at times, to my demise. I accept structure in many ways these days because I see its advantages around predictability and consistency.

There are times where I want to speak to you directly about what is on my mind without a need for citations, research, or preparation.

Now, I’m not saying I won’t come with the rigor. Though, there will be times where I suspend all of that and express what’s on my mind… Freely.

You’ll hear many more audio recordings from me this year. I’m scheduling and recording guests for the podcast I’m integrating into this channel here. I may add video soon - you should see my body language when I’m speaking from a place of intensity, and it’ll add another dimension.

So really, I want to start this year off by asking you for some flexibility. I will be writing on political economy, corporate finance, and tech - while adding my edgy takes to current events.

And I also want to sit down to write and let the words on the page sing without expectations.

Also, I have different breakthroughs in my mind as I start to make connections, further my research, or explore various ideas. It is helpful for me to communicate a basic version of what I am seeing, and it is not always fully baked. Sometimes I am making the connections in near-real-time and experimenting with the links I’m making in public. I would ask for your flexibility on this front as well. I plan to speak more openly in the coming weeks and months due to my need to attempt to make seemingly unrelated connections. I prefer to explore ideas vocally, and I get a lot of that, especially with social audio.

I am excited for 2022.

I have a lot planned for you this year, and I hope to live up to your expectations, let alone my own.

I have a slew of content prepared that is recorded and written, and I will now start to release it.

I am doing some more experimental audio content on Clubhouse and Spaces. Please follow me on both platforms. You may hear me talk about my love for the performance of speaking. If I could rap, I would - but I can’t, so I speak. In other words, speech is my canvas.

Because of my love for the performance, I’m going to push my boundaries, so I am hosting a series of talks on Clubhouse, one about Steve Jobs.
